Day 1: Lower Manhattan and the harbour
Choose either an island visit or a sightseeing cruise as the main paid activity. If landing on the islands, leave a generous part of the day for security and ferries. Keep the rest of Lower Manhattan flexible rather than adding a second departure you must rush to.
Day 2: natural history and Central Park
Build the day around the museum galleries or exhibitions you most want to see. Reserve any required slots and leave room for lunch and a walk if conditions suit. A museum visit does not need to be rushed to make room for another distant attraction.
Day 3: Midtown and modern art
