Start with your theatre, not just Times Square
Aladdin, Chicago and Hadestown use different theatre addresses. Save the actual entrance location from the show guide and confirm it against your ticket. Being in Times Square is not the same as being at your theatre, especially when the area is busy or you are approaching from an unfamiliar subway exit.
Choose a daytime activity that leaves breathing room
Our suggested pattern is a manageable sightseeing stop, a break and then the theatre evening. MoMA can be a useful Midtown option to investigate, but allow for the visit and the onward journey. A harbour cruise or airport transfer introduces different travel and timing considerations, so avoid putting it immediately before curtain time.
Plan dinner backwards from the performance
Choose your show first, then a meal with enough time to order, eat, settle the bill and reach the theatre. Tell the restaurant you have a performance to attend, but do not treat that as a guarantee of finishing on time. If the schedule looks tight, simplify the meal rather than relying on a rushed arrival.
Arrive ready to enter
Have the booking confirmation and ticket-delivery instructions available before you reach the door. Check any collection requirement, bag policy and access arrangement in advance. Leave bulky sightseeing luggage at your accommodation where possible. Follow the theatre’s own arrival advice for your performance.
Do not forget the journey after the show
Allow for the time it takes to leave the auditorium and theatre. Check how you will return to your accommodation, particularly if you are staying outside Midtown. If you want dinner after the show, check the restaurant’s actual kitchen hours instead of assuming a nearby venue will still be serving.
A flexible plan is often the more enjoyable one
Use the performance as the fixed point and leave the surrounding activities adjustable. If the afternoon runs late, drop an optional stop. Our recommendation is to protect the arrival buffer rather than squeeze in one more attraction and risk making the whole evening stressful.
